Romantic Hawaii Getaway: Where to Stay?
We prefer the Mauna Lani Resort area north of Kailua-Kona on the Kona coast, which is more than likely where you’ll be flying into. We like the Golf Villas; they are reasonably priced, two-bedroom, two private bathroom luxury condos with your own private lanai. Sorry, no room service here.
The Mauna Lani area is only about a 25 min drive from the airport. There is plenty of shopping, restaurants, and grocery stores nearby. And a lot of great walking trails!

Things to keep in mind when booking your stay; look for a private lanai. This will allow for quality time with your significant other, like a morning cup of coffee, watching the waves roll in, the setting sun and the native Hawaiian birds singing.
However, there are a lot of other excellent romantic resort hotels, like the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Mauna Lani, The Lotus Garden Cottages, The Four Seasons Resort, and many others. Many will offer a delicious continental breakfast, a secluded lanai, a hot tub, and room service (who doesn’t like room service).

Flights are usually cheaper when bought months before the travel date, and pre-booked accommodation also offers discounts. You won’t find true all inclusive resort on the islands but some offer vacation packages for those who are willing to book their vacation several months ahead.
This is especially great during winter when you can take advantage of even more savings like companion fares and special rates for students or seniors. Although it takes a bit of extra planning, booking flights and accommodation in advance is worth the effort because it lets you enjoy your trip without worrying about expenses.

Plan Your Days Ahead of Time
Planning is essential when making the most of your time on an island. If you know what activities and attractions are available, you can craft a schedule accordingly and take full advantage of all your destination has to offer.
Consider creating a cartographic timeline so that you can easily plan out how each day should be spent and make sure you don’t miss out on any must-see attractions or experiences.
Ensure you give yourself plenty of flexibility, allowing yourself to spontaneously veer away from your original intentions to seek out something exciting based on local tips or recommendations from fellow travelers.
With careful planning, the time you spend on the island can become a truly unforgettable experience.
Pack Light
When packing for a beach vacation, it’s important not to over-pack – no one wants to lug around too much stuff. But that doesn’t mean you should forget some essentials!
Remember your sunscreen, insect repellent, and bathing suit – none can be left behind. Sunscreen is an absolute must – even on slightly cloudy days, you can still get sunburnt, and no one wants that!
Insect repellent will enable you to enjoy the outdoors without pesky bugs biting you or otherwise bothering your relaxation.
And finally, don’t forget your bathing suit to enjoy swimming in pools and the ocean. Pack light, but don’t forget these essential items! Now, of course, if you forget something, there are plenty of stores available to shop at.
